Covenant Seminary Celebrates Recent Faculty Promotions and Updates

The Lord has blessed Covenant Seminary with world-class pastor-scholars and ministry leaders to train the next generation of church leadership. Please join us in honoring some of their recent accomplishments.

Dr. Aaron Goldstein recently completed his PhD in biblical studies through Concordia Seminary. Dr. Goldstein began teaching at Covenant in 2015 as a Visiting Instructor in Old Testament. He now serves as Associate Director of Online Learning and Assistant Professor of Old Testament. Prior to his time at Covenant, Dr. Goldstein taught religion at Lindenwood University and also served as a pastor in a local congregation for eight years.

Dr. Robbie Griggs was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Systematic Theology. Dr. Griggs joined Covenant in 2016 as Adjunct Professor of Theology, then Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology before receiving his current appointment. He holds a PhD in New Testament from Durham University, an MDiv from Covenant, and a BA in philosophy and a BS in finance from the University of Missouri. An expert New Testament scholar, his research focuses on Paul’s theology of grace in Galatians compared with Jewish theologies of God as “giver.” Dr. Griggs served in pastoral ministry for eight years.

Dr. Brad Matthews, Associate Professor of New Testament, was recently namedDean of Faculty for the Seminary. Matthews steps into the position previously held by Dr. Jay Sklar, who continues to serve in his other roles as Professor of Old Testament and Vice President of Academics. Dr. Matthews began his professional life as a mechanical engineer before coming to Covenant for a Master of Divinity degree. He holds a PhD from the University of Durham, England. He joined Covenant’s faculty in 2008 as Assistant Professor of New Testament and served as Field Education Director for several years.

Dr. Mark Ryan, Adjunct Professor ofReligion and Culture and Director of the Francis Schaeffer Institute, recently completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at Covenant, with a focus on cultural apologetics and communication. Dr. Ryan joined our faculty in 2010 as a Visiting Instructor in Theology, before joining us full-time as FSI Director in 2013. Before joining the faculty, Dr. Ryan served with L’Abri Fellowship in Boston and Vancouver, a ministry begun by the late Francis Schaeffer, and has pastored congregations in Australia and the USA.
