Women in Ministry

Covenant Seminary equips women to become faithful and effective ministry leaders, counselors, and teachers.

Our vision

The church depends on trained leaders. This means both men and women. Without trained and gifted women serving in the church, the ministry capability of the church suffers.

We want to see women well-equipped for the work of ministry. Our vision is to train women to be effective communicators of God’s word and compassionate pursuers of God’s people so that the gospel may go forth to every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Are you wanting to equip the church through gospel ministry? Come get equipped so that you can be a faithful and effective ministry leader. Our faculty have trained hundreds of women for ministry and would love to equip you as well.

FAQs

  • Yes! We have women in almost all degree programs available.

  • We are the denominational seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA does not ordain women to the roles of pastor or elder. While we admit students from a variety of church backgrounds, we are fully committed to the doctrinal standards of the PCA and thus do not specifically train women for the role of an ordained pastor.

  • Yes! We have students from a variety of church denominations. While our faculty all hold to the biblical and doctrinal commitments of the PCA, you will feel nothing but welcomed coming from a different denomination.

  • We have two different tracks of our Master of Divinity program: the Ordained Ministry Track and the Specialized Ministry Track. Women will be a part of the Specialized Ministry Track. The Ordained Ministry Track and the Specialized Ministry Track overlap for 92 of their 99 credit hours. They differ in that the Specialized Ministry track equips non-pastor ministry leaders to lead in non-ordained roles and faithfully teach from Scripture in a non-ordained capacity. Additionally, students in the Specialized Ministry Track choose electives instead of taking Preaching & Culture and Preparation for Licensure and Ordination.
